TO SONY

A fan-facing vision for technical investment, platform stability, and a sustainable live-service structure that can scale for years.

An Open Letter to Sony Interactive Entertainment Leadership

To the Executive Leadership at Sony,

We recently addressed an open letter to the leadership at Bungie, calling on them to reclaim the legendary standard of excellence their name demands. We reminded them that Destiny is not just a product, but a decade-long universe built on the deep, unwavering investment of its community.

However, Bungie does not steer this ship alone. As the parent company, Sony holds the keys to the future of this franchise.

The Live-Service Blueprint You Need

It is no secret that Sony has spent the last few years aggressively pursuing a foothold in the live-service landscape. You have looked for titles that can command player attention, generate sustained engagement, and build thriving, dedicated communities.

Look no further than what you already own.

Destiny doesn't just check the boxes of what you want; it delivers exactly what you need.

Building a successful live-service game from scratch is notoriously difficult, costly, and risky. Yet, in Destiny, you possess a rare "lightning in a bottle" intellectual property. It already has the industry-defining gunplay, the rich lore, the complex infrastructure, and-most importantly-a passionate, built-in global community that has stuck around for over ten years. You do not need to reinvent the wheel when you already own the gold standard.

Protecting the Investment

To fully realize Destiny's potential, Sony must recognize that a live-service game cannot be managed like a traditional single-player release. It cannot be bled for short-term quarterly metrics without sacrificing its soul.

When Bungie's internal leadership falters, it jeopardizes your massive investment. We ask Sony to step in not to corporate-ize the game, but to empower the developers, stabilize the franchise, and ensure that the studio has the clear direction and resources required to thrive.

Fuel the Fire, Don't Snuff It Out

Destiny has the foundations to last another decade and expand into new mediums, serving as the crown jewel of your live-service portfolio. But to get there, it requires a leadership structure-from both Bungie and Sony-that respects the player base and understands the unique magic of this world.

We want to see this franchise succeed. We want to see Sony's venture into live service triumph. Protect this community, hold Bungie to the standard of greatness they are capable of, and give Destiny the future it deserves.

Sincerely,

The Guardians of Destiny
